Moments with LLLC

Leader's Reflections

My name is Sandra, a proud mother of two girls, Maria 9 years old and Rebecca 6 years old. After breastfeeding them and experiencing lots of challenges during this journey, the passion of breastfeeding has outgrown my expectations and I have started supporting mothers who are family members, friends and neighbors!

I moved to Ottawa in July 2020 during the pandemic, reached out to La Leche League Canada soon after and became a leader applicant in September 2020. I had the passion of volunteering since university, and was excited when I joined LLLC Canada. I volunteered with two groups Ottawa South East and Ottawa South with Arabic translation.(Arabic is my first language as I am originally from Lebanon). With more than 100 hours of training in breastfeeding and communication skills, I got finally accredited as an LLLC Leader! It was a wonderful long journey for more than a year, which changed my life, and we celebrated my Leader Accreditation with my family for a full week.

I am extremely happy to now be one of the Leaders who supports pregnant and breastfeeding people, and their families! After moving to Chilliwack in February 2022, I worked on revitalizing the Chilliwack group and started our viritual monthly meetings. La Leche League Canada gave me the opportunity to be recognized as a Leader in my community!

I am grateful and thankful to be part of this international organization and great network where I am learning, volunteering and growing in knowledge, knowing that I always get the support that I need from my colleagues.
La Leche League Canada boosted my confidence.
Today where I stand;
I am proud,
I am passionate,
I am enough,
I love Me,
I love being a Volunteer LEADER.

Please donate to help more mothers and parents offer support to their communities.
